Kathy King Art Exhibit

The Department of Art at the University of West Georgia will host an exhibit, “We Need to Talk, ” at the Main Gallery in the Humanities Building through Jan. 31.

Ceramics artist King is featured at UWG.Atlanta artist Kathy King will show a variety of her ceramic works and a unique wall installation at her show. She will host an opening reception and artist talk on Thursday, Jan. 11, at 4 p.m. where the artist will comment on her works.

King is currently an associate professor in ceramics at Georgia State University and is a studio artist in Atlanta. She uses ceramic vessels, tiled furniture and printmaking, either separately or together, to present narratives from a woman’s point of view.

She has been nationally recognized for her work and imagery, which is reminiscent of underground comic books in style, and uses satirical humor, irony and sarcasm to map her journey from pubescence to menopause. 

The exhibit and the reception are free and the community is invited to attend. The gallery is open weekdays, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. For more information, call 678-839-4950.
