Parking Committee Schedules Town Hall Meetings

Wednesday, January 24, 2007

Parking and transportation needs for the University of West Georgia are under review and town hall meetings have been scheduled to solicit campus and community input.

According to Mike Renfrow, assistant vice president for campus planning and facilities, issues such as parking utilization and efficiency, phased development of additional parking areas, bus operations, and traffic management with city officials are being studied by a dozen members of a parking committee composed of faculty, staff, students and community members.

Town hall meetings are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 12, at 3:30 p.m. in TLC 1303 and Tuesday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m. in TLC 1301 for input and suggestions from the campus community. A meeting is also set for Monday, Feb. 12, at 7 p.m. at City Hall for community input.

“It is time for the university’s Facilities Master Plan to be updated and it is vital that parking and transportation needs are examined and we develop a sustainable plan for our future parking and transit needs,” Renfrow noted. “This committee will develop a comprehensive 1-3-5 year plan.”

In addition to the town hall meetings, the Parking Committee is conducting a brief survey of students, faculty, staff and community members to gather feedback on parking and transit needs.

The survey can be taken online at: UWG Parking Survey
