Six University of West Georgia geoscientists will present research papers at the 118th annual meeting of the Geological Society of America on Oct. 22-25 in Philadelphia. Approximately 6,200 scientists are expected to attend the international event.
The UWG geoscientists who will present at the meeting are Dr. Curtis L. Hollabaugh, chair of the Department of Geosciences and professor of geology; Dr. David Bush, professor of geology; Drs. Kent Ratajeski and Philip M. Novack-Gottshall, assistant professors of geology; Dr. Rebecca L. Dodge, associate professor of geology; and Randa R. Harris, instructor of geology.
A UWG undergraduate student, Jennifer Beth Blaise, will also present research at the meeting.
Topics of the presentations range from mercury and arsenic levels in the west Georgia watershed to the hurricane impact upon southeastern coastlines and the use of cyberinformatic data in the classroom.
Hollabaugh will present findings from research conducted by students and faculty at the Center for Water Resources founded in 1999 on the UWG campus.
