The University of West Georgia

UWG Research Day

Wednesday, February 28, 2007

ARCHThe University of West Georgia will host UWG Research Day 2007 on Tuesday, March 6, and the community is invited to participate in this exciting event.

Research Day is an all-day campus celebration of undergraduate research in the areas of arts, business, education, humanities, the sciences and social sciences. Students will compete with each other in their discipline of choice by presenting their work to an interdisciplinary panel of faculty judges.

The panel of judges will then select the best presentation from each of the six categories for a grand finale at the Centennial Big Night 2007 celebration on Thursday, April 5.

UWG and the Association of Research and Creative Humanities will host the event and every student chosen to show his or her research on Big Night will be awarded a $250 cash prize. ARCH is a UWG student organization that encourages independent thought and discovery through research.

An After Hours reception and exhibition, also hosted by ARCH, will follow the Big Night event in the atrium of the Technology-enhanced Learning Center. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and lively student demonstrations of mixed media paintings and sculpture, poetry, music, interior design and other exhibitions will fill the atrium.  Several hundred are expected to attend this free event and the community is invited.
