North Georgia Turf President Shares Entrepreneurial Spirit with Students (1/24/2014)

Aaron McWhorter, president of North Georgia Turf, is set to visit the University of West Georgia as part of the Richards College of Business Presidential Leadership Series on Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2014. During his visit, McWhorter will speak to several business classes, meet with professors to discuss faculty research and tour various areas of campus.

UWG Professor and Alums Recognized by Foreign Language Association (1/23/2014)

One University of West Georgia professor and two alumni will be recognized by the Foreign Language Association of Georgia for their dedication to support and improve foreign language instruction at the college. They will receive the honor at the 2014 FLAG Conference, which will be held March 7-18 in Atlanta, Ga.

Broadway Star Guest Directs UWG's Snapshot (1/22/2014)

Actor and guest lecturer Bill Bowers will return to the University of West Georgia on Jan. 6 for a five-week residency. During his residency, Bowers will direct the upcoming UWG Theatre production of Snapshot, a dramatic anthology created for the Actors Theatre of Louisville Humana Festival of New Plays. Snapshot is a series of scenes based on the famous Mount Rushmore, South Dakota, 1969 photo by Lee Friedlander. The show will run Feb. 12-16 at the Townsend Center for Performing Arts. This will be the second show Bowers has directed at UWG; in 2008, Bowers directed a rambunctious production of Moliere’s Scapin.

Georgia Lottery to Give $1,000 Scholarship at UWG Men’s Basketball Games (1/16/2014)

The Georgia Lottery is coming to the University of West Georgia to give students a chance to win scholarships while attending athletic games with its sports-based program “Dollars for Scholars.” UWG’s first spring semester Georgia Lottery HOPE game is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 16, as the Wolves take on Valdosta State University at 7:30 p.m. in the UWG Coliseum. One qualified student will win the first $1,000 prize at this Thursday's game.

UWG President Emeritus Receives Founder’s Award (1/14/2014)

The University of West Georgia awarded university President Emeritus Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna the Founder’s Award during the winter 2013 commencement ceremony. Sethna received the Founder’s Award, the most prestigious honor given by the university, due to his tremendous contributions to the university during his 19-year tenure.

UWG Once Again Earns High National Rankings in Online Programs (1/9/2014)

U.S. News & World Report’s 2014 “Best Online Programs” rankings place the University of West Georgia among the top in the nation, including a WebMBA program ranking of fourth nationally and an online graduate computer information technology program ranking of 12th nationally. UWG’s online graduate nursing program, online graduate education program and online bachelor’s program in criminology received high marks as well.

Presidential Honoree to Speak at Annual MLK Celebration (1/8/2014)

The University of West Georgia’s 5th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Program will feature renowned speaker and presidential honoree, Dr. Calvin Mackie. The Center for Diversity and Inclusion will host the program on Thursday, Jan. 16, at 7:00 p.m. in the Campus Center Ballroom. This event is free and open to the public. UWG students will master the ceremony, usher, greet and introduce the speaker.
