Good Things Come in Small Packages (11/29/2010)

The UWG Department of Art will hold its fourth annual holiday show and sale on Thursday, Dec. 2 from 6 p.m-8 p.m. in the Bobick Gallery of the Humanities Building. Featured will be art from UWG faculty, students, alumni and friends.

Preview Day a Success (11/23/2010)

Fall Preview Day, in which prospective UWG students and their families came to tour the campus and learn about its programs, was a huge success this year. Held on Sunday, Nov. 14, this year's event drew the largest crowd in its 15-year history. Some 627 students and 862 guests attended, bringing the total visitor count to 1,489. The previous attendance record was set in 2002.

Nursing Grads More Likely to be Hired Soon After Graduation, Study Finds (11/22/2010)

According to new data from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing, graduates of entry-level baccalaureate and master’s nursing programs are more likely to receive job offers at the time of graduation or soon after than graduates from other fields.

University System Enrolls a Record 311,442 Students (11/15/2010)

The University System of Georgia’s (USG) fall 2010 enrollment has climbed to 311,442 students, yet another record high. That’s an increase of 9,550 students, or 3.2 percent, over the fall 2009 enrollment, which at the time was the record.

UWG Converts Student Medical Files to Electronic Records (11/11/2010)

The University of West Georgia recently updated its medical software by turning all existing paper medical charts into electronic records. This change benefits students, faculty and staff at the university in numerous ways.

Hot High School Hoops Coming to UWG (11/5/2010)

On Saturday, Nov. 13, UWG's Coliseum will be hosting the West Georgia TipOff Showcase, featuring four area boys high school basketball teams. The gates will open at 12 p.m., with the first game starting at 1 p.m. featuring Newnan v. Chapel Hill. The second game will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will feature Villa Rica v. Starr's Mill. All tickets are $7. Children 3 and under are free.

NY Times Bestselling Author to Visit (11/5/2010)

Dr. Mark Mathabane, New York Times bestselling author and South African native, will be coming to the University of West Georgia to discuss “Human Rights, Education, and the Lessons of Apartheid.” He will be speaking in the TLC Room 1305 on Wednesday, Nov. 16 at 7:30 p.m, with a reception and a book signing to follow.
