UWG Debate Team Defeats Top Two Nationally Ranked Teams at Wake Forest Tournament (11/22/2013)

The University of West Georgia debate team wrapped up the first half of their season compiling an 8-0 record during the preliminary rounds at the 2013 Franklin R. Shirley Classic, hosted by Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, NC.

UWG Names Will Hall as Head Football Coach (11/22/2013)

On Friday, Nov. 22, 2013, the University of West Georgia held a press conference to announce Will Hall as the new head football coach at UWG. Hall joins UWG after three successful seasons as the University of West Alabama head football coach, where he led the team to back-to-back Gulf South Conference Championships.

Author and Alumna Lee Kearney Speaks at HIV/AIDS Talk (11/14/2013)

The University of West Georgia will host an HIV/AIDS Talk on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 6:30 p.m. at UWG’s Ingram Library in the Murphy Reading Room. The talk will feature UWG alumna and author Lee Kearney as the keynote speaker. This event is free and open to the public.

Dedication Ceremony Celebrates UWG and Tanner Partnership (11/13/2013)

On Tuesday, Nov. 12, 2013, the University of West Georgia hosted a dedication ceremony honoring the official partnership and naming of the Tanner Health System School of Nursing. The event included representatives from Tanner Health System and UWG, community members, UWG nursing alumni and current UWG nursing professors and students. Following the ceremony, a reception was provided for guests including tours of the new nursing building.

University of West Georgia Explores the Depth of Love in “Eurydice” (11/12/2013)

The University of West Georgia Department of Theatre presents “Eurydice,” a surrealist play by Sarah Ruhl, on Nov. 20 - 23 at 7:30 p.m. and Nov. 23 at 2:30 p.m. in the Richard L. Dangle Theatre at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts. A community preview will be offered on Tuesday, Nov. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Media is invited to review the play.

Professors Provide Insight on 2013 Nobel Prize Winners and their Advancements (11/8/2013)

On Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, the College of Science and Mathematics at the University of West Georgia will present “Popular Lectures on 2013 Nobel Prizes” discussing the significance of this year’s Nobel Prize winners and their advancements in science. This free event, held at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts, is open to the public and will include a reception beginning at 5:00 p.m. before the lectures at 5:30 p.m.

UWG to Honor the Fallen on Veteran’s Day (11/7/2013)

The University of West Georgia has joined a nationwide grass-roots effort to honor American service men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice in Iraq and Afghanistan during the past decade. On Veterans Day, Monday, Nov. 11, 2013, campus and community volunteers at more than 80 colleges and universities across the nation will read the names of military men and women who died during Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, called Operation New Dawn.

University of West Georgia to be Featured on Georgia Traveler (11/7/2013)

The University of West Georgia will be featured this weekend in the “Coolest Campus” segment of Georgia Traveler, a Georgia Public Broadcasting production. The episode, titled “Strides and Stallions,” will premiere on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at 6:30 p.m. followed by an encore on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2013, at 7:00 p.m.

UWG Officially Celebrates Additions to East Campus (11/6/2013)

The University of West Georgia officially celebrated the facility additions to east campus, including a new amphitheater, East Commons dining hall, The Oaks residence hall and the newly renovated Bowdon Hall, with a ribbon cutting on Friday, Nov. 1, 2013. The event was held in The Oaks’ spacious second floor lobby overlooking the new facilities.
