UWG Awards Cadenhead Second Degree 68 Years After His First (12/14/2012)

For the second time in his life and 68 years after earning his first degree, A. Paul Cadenhead, 86, walked across the stage at UWG’s fall graduation ceremony Saturday, Dec. 8 where he received the honorary Doctor of Humane Letters degree. This distinction has only been bestowed twelve previous times in UWG’s 106-year history.

Local Bankers Donate Scholarship Funds to Richards College of Business (12/12/2012)

The West Georgia Bankers Association (WGBA) recently showed its support of the Richards College of Business by creating a scholarship fund for UWG students majoring in finance. WGBA President, James Fulford (’01), presented a check for $4,603.61 to the University of West Georgia Foundation to assist deserving students in paying for college, through the West Georgia Bankers Association Scholarship.

Georgia’s First State Archaeologist Dies at 86 (12/7/2012)

UWG mourns the loss of Dr. Lewis H. Larson, Jr., professor emeritus of anthropology and Georgia's first state archaeologist, who died on Nov. 25. He was a recognized contributor to the archaeology of North America and recipient of the Governor's Award in the Humanities.

The University of West Georgia will hold its fall commencement ceremonies on Saturday, December 8 at 9:30 a.m. in the Coliseum on the Carrollton campus. It will be streamed online.

The Richards College of Business ENACTUS team recently co-sponsored a lecture for UWG business students. Kelvin Hall, General Manager for the Wal-Mart.com facility in Carrollton visited the Richards College of Business where he spoke to an Introduction to Management class.

UWG’s The WOLF Internet Radio Wins Big in International Competition (12/4/2012)

The WOLF Internet Radio placed No. 2 as the best station out of 585 participating stations worldwide for College Radio Day 2012. The station also claimed titles for “Best On-Air Programming” and “Best Community Outreach” for the 2012 Spirit of College Radio Awards after a stellar performance on College Radio Day.

UWG Presidential Search Committee Townhall Meeting (12/3/2012)

The public is invited to attend a townhall meeting regarding the search for a new president of the university. Dr. Don Rice, search committee chair, will conduct the meeting which is designed to introduce the committee members, explain the process and give an update on the search progress, answer questions and take suggestions regarding the characteristics one would like to see in a new university president.
