UWG Sweeps Competition at 21st International Economic Convention (12/17/2013)

The University of West Georgia Richards College of Business student team had a spectacular showing at the 21st International Economic Convention in Mumbai, India, winning first place in all six team categories including “Best Overall,” “Most Innovative Solution,” “Best Q&A,” “Best Coordination Among Team Members,” “Best Paper” and “Best Presentation.”

Dr. Brenda Fitzgerald to Speak at UWG Fall Commencement (12/12/2013)

The University of West Georgia will host its fall commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, 2013, in the UWG Coliseum. The ceremony will also be broadcasting live on the UWG website,, for friends and family who cannot attend the ceremony in person. The university expects to confer approximately 474 undergraduate and 221 graduate degrees during this ceremony. The official number of degrees conferred will be available after Dec. 19.

UWG Professor named University Fuller E. Callaway Endowed Chair (12/6/2013)

Dr. Swarna “Bashu” Dutt, a professor of economics at the University of West Georgia, has been named as a University Fuller E. Callaway Professorial Chair. Dutt is the third UWG professor to receive this honor, with professor Howard E. Taylor serving from 1971 to 1987 and professor Jerry D. Perkins serving from 1991 to 2001.

Cooking Matters Course Offers UWG Students Healthy Cooking Classes (12/6/2013)

University of West Georgia students are learning how to cook and eat healthily through cooking classes sponsored by the Cooking Matters program. The program, part of the Tanner Health System’s Community Transformation Grant from the Centers for Disease Control, is designed to help educate and assist certain populations with healthy cooking skills and knowledge.

UWG's Kim Huett Among Five University System Faculty Honored for Teaching (12/4/2013)

Five University System of Georgia faculty members have been selected as the 2013 recipients of the System’s most prestigious teaching awards named in honor of Regent Felton Jenkins Jr., who served on the board from Jan. 2006 until his death in Jan. 2011. The Felton Jenkins Jr. Hall of Fame Faculty Award is given in two categories, the Regents’ Teaching Excellence Awards and the Regents’ Scholarship of Teaching and Learning Awards.
