UWG Instant Messaging (Chat) Services
UWG uses Google Talk as its instant messaging (chat) service provider. All faculty, staff, and students who have an active UWG ID may use Google Talk to communicate with others in the University community. Any instant messaging client that can be configured to communicate with Google Talk can be used for instant messaging at UWG.
For faculty and staff on-campus computers, ITS supports the following non-Google clients:
- Pidgin (Windows OS)
- Adium (Mac OS)
Instructions can be found below for setting up an instant messaging client on your computer for the first time or for modifying your existing client to begin working with Google Talk.

(Note: when you modify your existing install of Pidgin or Adium, you will have to recreate your buddies list.)
