The Telecommunications section of ITS is responsible for functions related to UWG's telephone system and telecommunication services, UWG contracts with AT&T (formerly Bellsouth) to maintain the on-campus PBX which is a Nortel Communications Server 1000M telephone system capable of supporting analog, Nortel digital and Voice Over IP (VOIP) phone instruments. UWG contracts with ITC/Deltacom through SyncGlobal for our communication lines (PRIs) to the Public Station Telephone Network (PSTN). UWG ITS Telecomm also serves as the liaison entity with the Georgia Technology Authority (GTA). Services offered include processing requests for new voice lines, new telephone equipment, relocations of existing lines, calling cards, the installation of voice mail, and the setup of conference calls. Other important responsibilities are: maintenance of the Faculty/Staff online Telephone Directory, and training faculty and staff on the use of features that the telecommunication system provides to the campus. UWG ITS Telecomm does not directly support cellular phones or pagers, but advice and assistance is offered on a limited basis.
