Welcome to the Department of Management 

Martavious Gordon 21' 22', reflects on the opportunities he has had while pursuing his M.B.A in IoT, Networking, and Cyber Security. From visiting the SAP Headquarters in Germany to working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation in Digital Forensics, Martavious says, "Networking is key" and the Richards College of Business was an instrumental part of connecting him opportunities and resources.

Our B.B.A. in management prepares students for careers in a variety of different organizations and industries. Students can focus their studies in one of four concentrations. Many of our courses have online options for maximum flexibility.

Human Resource Management:

  • This concentration prepares students for high demand jobs in employment relations, training and development, talent acquisition, and total rewards.

Entrepreneurship and Small Business Management:

  • This concentration is designed for students who want to start their own business. Students work with experienced faculty in courses such as The Creative Startup and Small Business Survival Skills.

Supply Chain Management:

  • This concentration prepares students for high-demand job market in areas such as logistics, inventory control, and supply chain management.

Project Management:

  • This concentration prepares students for careers such as event managers and project coordinators. Students examine how to provide control and structure to projects in organizations.

 

We also encourage students to pursue professional certifications such as the aPHR or the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt.

B.B.A. in Management

Dr. Anna Obedkova earned her bachelor’s degree in Management from UWG in 2008 and her MBA in 2010. “I am grateful for the support and guidance that I received from the professors of the Management Department. They always encouraged me to do my best and showed me that I could do things that I had never thought of, including getting a Ph.D, until I became a management student.”

Martavious Gordon recently graduated from UWG with his bachelor’s degree in Management Information Systems (MIS). He is currently pursuing his MBA with a focus in Cyber Security. “During my time at West Georgia, I have served as an Orientation Leader and been a part of multiple organizations, such as the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, the Student Government Association, and the UWG Blue Coats.”

Our program's mission is to prepare professionals to be workplace and community leaders in cybersecurity with skills to:

  • Understand how cyber threats can affect their organization’s mission
  • Able to identify and assess cybersecurity vulnerabilities.
  • Communicate cyber threats to stakeholders in terms of risk
  • Develop feasible, actionable plans to address cyber vulnerabilities
  • Be able to implement those plans successfully
