Each year the Department of Mathematics offers a number of Graduate Assistantships. These are 9-month assistantships for students enrolled in our Masters Degree program. It includes a stipend and a tuition waiver. The anticipated stipend is $3,000-$4,000 a semester for Fall and Spring, depending on duties and a limited number of additional summer support are also available.
Typical duties include tutoring, covering recitation sections in 1000-level mathematics classes, and grading. It is expected that most of the work responsibilities of the assistantship will be done during the daytime hours (between 8AM and 5PM).
To apply for an assistantship for the upcoming academic year:
- Fill out the Graduate Assistantship Application and submit the completed form to the Department of Mathematics.
- Indicate your request to be considered for an assistantship to the chair Dr. Bruce Landman (firstname.lastname@example.org) at least 3 months before the start of the semester to receive fullest consideration, but no later than 10 weeks before the semester. Since Graduate Assistantships are competitive, we encourage you to submit your application as early as possible.
