Concert Bands
Wind Symphony
The Wind Symphony is the University's superb concert band organization. It is comprised of the most proficient woodwind, brass and percussion performers on campus. The Wind Symphony, whose members audition for part placement only, includes wind and percussion students who are proficient instrumentalists and enjoy the challenge of performing excellent concert literature. The most proficient members of this ensemble are selected to perform in the Wind Ensemble, where membership is obtained by audition.
Recognized for their excellence, these ensembles have earned their reputation by presenting critically acclaimed concerts at the University of West Georgia's Townsend Center for the Performing Arts, on tours throughout the state of Georgia, and at professional music conferences.
Exploring traditional as well as contemporary works, these bands perform only high-quality wind literature ranging from the ancient Harmoniemusik to the most important works of our time.
