Freshman Students starting in the Fall 2010

Freshman students who will be living on campus starting in the Fall 2010 semester will attend at two day overnight program. The tentative Residential Orientation dates for Fall 2010 as follows:
June 9-10 Residential 1
June 14-15 Residential 2
June 21-22 Residential 3
June 24-25 Residential 4
July 22-23 Residential 5
Registration for these Orientation Programs will not open until late Spring 2010
We will close each program at least 5 days before the program begins, or if the program is filled, whichever comes first. We have a limited space in each program, and encourage students to register for programs well in advance if there is a particular date you wish to attend. When you register, you can list a preference of program dates, and we will try to accommodate preference on a space available basis.
Fee: The fee for freshman Orientation for the Fall is $85. Seventy-five dollars of the fee covers the two-day Orientation program that you will attend in June or July and the remaining $10 pays for Transitions, the second phase of Orientation, that will be held on August 11 2010 the day before Fall classes begin.
All of these freshman residential orientation programs are overnight and students are required to stay the night. Exceptions will be made only in the rarest of circumstances and must be done so in writing to the coordinator no less than 10 business days prior to the session for which the student is registered. On-site exceptions will not be made.
Please note: Freshmen who attend one of these sessions should plan to provide their own linens, pillows and toiletries for their stay in the residence hall.
Students will begin with check in from noon to 1:00pm, and the program will end at 11:30pm on day one. Dinner and a night-time snack will be provided. Day two for students will be 7:45am until approximately 4:00pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on day two. Students will stay overnight in residence halls on campus.

Freshman students who will be commuting to campus starting in the Fall 2009 semester will attend a two day program that will not require them to spend the night.The tentative dates for those programs are:
June 17-18 Commuter 1
July 19-20 Commuter 2

Transfer and Non-Traditional Students starting in the Fall 2010
Transfer and nontraditional students who will be starting in the Fall 2010 semester will attend one of our 1 day programs, the tentative dates are as follows:
June 28 Transfer/nontraditional 1
July 26 Transfer/nontraditional 2
Fee: $25.00 The fee covers staff, all materials, and also includes a lunch in our on campus restaurant.

Registration for these program days closes at least THREE days prior to the program, and we encourage students to register in advance.
Nontraditional students with Learning Support requirements will not be advised by your Academic College, but rather the Learning Support Office during Orientation. Students with learning support requirements are advised through the Learning Support office until they complete those requirements. If you still must take the CPE, please schedule that prior to Orientation registration. Special Note for transfer students who have attended their prior institution(s) for ONE OR MORE YEARS AS A FULL-TIME STUDENT: You are not required to attend the June 28 or July 26 session. You may take part in 'Special Advising Days' offered by the College of your major course of study. You will be sent information about how to participate in this program AFTER you have received your official acceptance letter from the Admissions Office. Information about 'Special Advising Days' is available here. There is no fee for 'Special Advising Days'. Once you have made your appointment, write it down on your calendar. You must check in at the Admissions Office in Mandeville Hall located on Front Campus Drive 30 minutes prior to your scheduled appointment to have your orientation hold removed and to receive your materials. Failure to do so could result in your appointment being canceled.

Transient, Unclassified, Graduate, or Non-degree seeking Students starting in the Fall 2010
Are you a Transient, Unclassified, Graduate, or Non-degree seeking student starting in the Fall 2010 term?
Transient, unclassified and auditor students do not attend orientation. Orientation is reserved specifically for students who will be spending their college careers with us, seeking a degree with us and/or taking classes for credit.
- Transient students are those students who are visiting UWG from their home institution for one term only.
- Unclassified students are those students who are not seeking a degree during their stay at UWG.
- Auditor students are those students who are not taking classes for grade credit.
Registration for all of these types of students will be announced at a later date

International Students
International Orientation is only for students who are studying at UWG on a F1 or J1 visa issued through the University. International students will receive information regarding international orientation with their admissions letter and their I-20 or DS2019.
