IGNITE Orientation
The date of IGNITE Orientation is March 26th. You must be invited to attend IGNITE.
Who can come to IGNITE?
IGNITE is for honor students and scholarship recipients ONLY, all other students can sign up for regular orientation. *NOTE: If you are a scholarship recipient you may not qualify for the honors program, and vice versa*
What is IGNITE?
A special Orientation program that will allow you to meet other incoming West Georgia freshman and register early for classes. Being an attendant of IGNITE will allow you to get to know the campus before you actually attend classes. IGNITE will fulfill your Phase I : Connections Orientation requirement. *NOTE: You will not be required to attend any of the 2-day June Orientation sessions*
What will I experience during IGNITE?
During IGNITE, you and your parents will have the opportunity to meet faculty and staff, see student research projects, learn about living on campus, or commuting, and hear important information about financing your education.
Lunch will be provided, during this time there will be a special awards ceremony to honor those students that are receiving scholarships for the 2011-2012 academic year.
While students are advised for course selection, we will offer a special question and answer session for parents and a bus tour of the UWG Campus. We want to make sure that you get the information that you need, so you and your parents are encouraged to bring all the questions that you have about being a UWG student.
This is an opportunity we offer to incoming Honors College and Scholarship recipients students only. At UWG, we offer educational excellence in a personal environment, and this is the first opportunity you have to experience that firsthand as an incoming UWG student.
How much will IGNITE cost?
The cost of IGNITE will be $95. You will be permitted to bring two guests to IGNITE, please register them when you register/pay for IGNITE through the prep/application website http://www.westga.edu/admiss/index_1072.php
When & Where is IGNITE?
The date is March 26th at this time. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. in the Technology-Enhanced Learning Center (TLC), and the program will end approximately at 4:00 p.m. This day-long experience will include a continetal breakfast and a full lunch.
What if I can't attend IGNITE?
If you choose not to attend IGNITE, you are still eligible for the Honors College or for the scholarship you were awarded, but you will be required to attend one of the summer 2-day orientation sessions before being able to attend classes in the Fall. This Orientation is designed to specifically give students a head start on their UWG career, so don't miss this opportunity!
