Officer Kayla Bruno, originally from Covington, GA, joined the University of West Georgia Campus Police Department in 2014. She graduated from the University of West Georgia (UWG) in 2013 with a BS in Criminology. While at the UWG, Kayla served as an intern with the City of Carrollton Police Department. Upon graduation she worked as a jailer at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Kayla has just completed her training at NCGLEA and is excited to start her new career at the University of West Georgia Campus Police Department.

Kayla comes from a police family with her dad and uncle both in law enforcement for over 20 years. Seeing their passion for the job sparked her interest in becoming a police officer. They have been great role models and mentors and she hopes to follow in their footsteps.

Kayla looks forward to protecting, serving and making a difference in the UWG community. She wants to continue her education and would like to pursue her Master’s degree in a Criminal Justice related field.
