Timely Warnings
Timely Warnings
In the event that a situation arises on or off campus that in the judgment of the Chief of the University Police constitutes a threat to the University community, a campus wide “timely warning” will be issued. The warning will be issued through the University’s e-mail system to all students, faculty and staff. The warning is also sent to the Student Government Association, The West Georgian (campus newspaper), University Television and WWGC (University Radio). If the situation poses an immediate threat, a warning will be sent through UWG Emergency Alert as well as the campus public address system. UWG Emergency Alert is a service that will send emergency messages to a participant’s cell phone (voice and/or text) and e-mail account. Faculty, staff and students are encouraged to subscribe to this free service. For directions on how to subscribe go to: http://www.westga.edu/police/index_4301.php .
