Curt Arey

Curt Arey is the 2009 recipient of the Mike Arons Humanistic Psychology Scholarship

The Mike Arons Humanistic Psychology scholarship was established to honor Dr. Myron (Mike) Arons, one of the pioneers and founders of the field of humanistic psychology. He is recognized both nationally and internationally and also happens to be the founder of the humanistic psychology program at the University of West Georgia.

The scholarship is awarded yearly to a graduate student in psychology who demonstrates a working knowledge of major thinkers and the conceptual underpinnings of Humanistic Psychology, creative ways of engaging psychological challenges—whether academic, professional, or personal in nature—and a willingness to extend their knowledge to social and cultural contexts.

Curt Arey is the winner for 2009. Curt is in the second year of the MA program pursuing the certificate in humanistic praxis. Curt enjoys the works of Jung, Rodgers and Frankl and is looking forward to learning more about Fromm, Buber and the field of Ecopsychology. Curt enjoys training and racing his bicycle, hanging out with his partner Erica and their dogs in their new, old house in Historic Kirkwood, and just plain LIVIN'. He enjoys getting to know people for who they are and celebrating our differences as well as our similarities. Curt strives to live with a sensitivity to the interconnectedness of all things and enjoys being around others who do as well.
