Biography

Tobin received his B.A. in psychology at the University of Florida, his M.Ed. in counseling and development at St. Lawrence University and his Ph.D. in counseling psychology at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. His roots are in a humanistic tradition and have grown limbs into transpersonal, developmental, educational, clinical (including systems) and post-modern perspectives. Tobin appreciates interdisciplinary approaches, for example, blending literature and psychology. He brings a spiritual, psychological, and social contextual lens to his teaching. At the graduate level Tobin offers courses in Transpersonal Psychology, Mind-Body, Human Development, Individual and Family Therapy, Post-Modern approaches to therapy, a supervised practicum experience in group dynamics and teaching, as well as individualized independent study.
