Education & Interpretation
One of the core missions of any museum is to educate the public and to interpret its collections. This course introduces students to the world of museum interpretation and education.
The spring 2005 Museum Education class will meet at the Atlanta History Center on Wednesday mornings, from 10 until 12:30. Karen Kelly, Head of Education, and Ann McCleary, AHC Museum Studies Coordinator, will teach the class.
The spring 2003 class was taught by Karen Kelly, Head of Education, and Pam Meister, Director of Education and Interpretation, at the Atlanta History Center and Dr. Ann McCleary, at the University of West Georgia. For class projects, students developed an interpretive plan for the Swan House and two program plans for upcoming exhibits at the Atlanta History Center. In addition, each student was required to attend at 15 hours of public programs and to prepare written critiques.
