The University Police Department spends a great deal of time and effort in the selection of its police officers. The Department advertises widely when a position comes open and attempts to attract an educated and diverse applicant pool. It is the philosophy of the University Police Department that an educated person makes for a better police officer. For this reason, the University Police places an emphasis on recruiting applicants who possess a college degree or are currently working towards one. Currently, approximately 50 percent of all police personnel have a 4 year degree or are actively pursuing one. A University Police Officer posses the highest moral, ethical, mental and physical standards. Therefore, any applicant for any University Police Position will be evaluated by performing a series of tests including, but not limited to, Drug Screens, Psychological Battery, Polygraph/Voice Stress Analysis, and Physical Agility Tests. In order to be selected for employment as a police officer you must complete the following instructions.

1. Check the UWG Human Resources Web Page for any open Police Officer Vacancies.
2. If there are not any openings, Check back frequently to see any new postings on the job website.
3. If there are any University Police Department Job currently open, complete the UWG Employment Application  first.
4. Then, complete the University Police Background Application.
5. Turn both applications into the University Human Resources Department by the end of the close date on the University Police job opening.
