Caps and gowns can be purchased at the UWG University Bookstore and should be done in advance. Appropriate dress for graduation includes dark shoes (black) for men and women. Men should wear dark pants (black) and a tie. It is important that students do not bring handbags or personal items because there is no secure holding area.

Degree Evaluation:
Prior to applying for graduation, undergraduates will need to run a degree audit evaluation to ensure they have completed all degree requirements. The Undergraduate Degree Evaluation pamphlet will walk you through the process. If you have any questions pertaining to your evaluation, contact Melanie Hight at mgriffin@westgae.edu or Regina Mailloux at rmaillou@westga.edu in the Registrar's Office.

Diplomas:
A student's name will appear on the diploma as listed on the graduation application form. The diplomas are ordered weeks in advance. If a change is requested, a diploma replacement form and fee must be submitted to the Registrar's Office.
The diploma can be issued either by participating (marching) in the ceremony or by being mailed to the address on the application. Contact Melanie Hight at mgriffin@westga.edu or Regina Mailloux at rmaillou@westga.edu in the Registrar's Office immediately if there is a change in address or marching status after submission of the graduation application.

Final Grades:
Grades are required for any classes taken and recorded on the academic transcript. This includes courses not necessarily applied to a degree. A candidate will not be certified to graduate with incomplete grades.
After the Registrar's Office receives final grades from faculty, a final audit of the student's academic record will be completed and diplomas can be issued to eligible graduates as soon as possible.

Honors:
The University of West Georgia awards baccalaureate degrees with honors to those undergraduates which have a minimum GPA of 3.5 on all courses attempted. Transfer students will qualify for honors if they attain an honors grade-point average on all work attempted at UWG and combined total of all courses attempted at both UWG and other institutions. Please refer to the Undergraduate Catalog regarding the Honors policy for further clarification.
The award is based on the student's GPA at the end of the semester prior to the graduating semester. Membership in an "honor society" and wearing the respective honor cords requires obtaining them from the appropriate honor society. At commencement, UWG recognizes only honors as defined by University Policy: Summa Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude, and Cum Laude.

Free proofs of these photos will be sent by mail and e-mail to graduates and their families about one week after the ceremony. Graduates will be asked to complete an address card when arriving on graduation day in order to update your address and receive your free proofs. A variety of print packages are available starting at $6.95.
If you have any questions regarding photographs, please email info@villagephotographers.com
Since professional photographs will be available, family members and guests are encouraged to remain in their seats, relax and enjoy the ceremony.

Prospective Graduates:
A tentative undergraduate graduation list is posted prior to the date of graduation each semester. Students should review the list and report any discrepancies to the Melanie Hight at mgriffin@westga.edu or Regina Mailloux at rmaillou@westga.edu immediately.
Click here for a prospective list of undergraduates for Fall 2009. This list is not an indication that these students are meeting all degree requirements. Final grades have not been submitted for the Fall 2009 semester, and student graduation is contingent upon the grades recorded. This list is a representation of the students which have applied for graduation and are possible candidates at this time.

Tickets:
At each commencement ceremony conducted in the Coliseum, tickets will be provided to each student who indicates that they will march. The number of tickets will differ each semester according to how many students participate in the ceremony. It is the responsibility of the UWG officials to decide when two ceremonies are necessary in order to accommodate more guests for our students, but we must also adhere to the fire marshal occupancy codes for the safety of our students and visitors.
Every guest, including children and infants, will be required to provide a ticket upon entrance. For the Fall 2009 ceremony, each student will recieve 10 tickets. If students need more than the allotted amount of tickets or have lost them, they may check among their friends or classmates to acquire tickets that others may not be using.
The tickets are mailed via the United States Postal Service to the student's listed "mailing address" in the UWG system. Students can and should verify their mailing address by going to Banweb and clicking on "Personal Information" and then "View Addresses and Phones." If there is no mailing address listed for the student, the tickets will be mailed to the permanent address listed. Also, if there is a change in address after submitting a graduation application, notify either Melanie Hight at mgriffin@westga.edu or Regina Mailloux at rmaillou@westga.edu in the Registrar's Office.
