Room Sign Up FAQ

How do I complete my housing contract?
Log on to MyUWG and click on the Banweb tab.  From there, click the Housing Application Link and select your term “Fall 2010.”  From there, you will indicate your preferences and submit your preferred roommates (where applicable) name and UWG ID#.  Once you have completed the application, print and sign it.  You’re all done!

What if I don’t have a printer in my room?
Here are some options that are available to you:
• Print your housing contract in any computer lab on campus.
• Go to your Residence Life Coordinator.
• Come to the Housing Office in Mandeville Hall (Front Campus Drive).

What do I need to bring with me for Room Sign Up?
You will need to bring your UWG ID card (or a state issued photo ID) and your housing contract.  Remember, if you are “pulling someone in” you will need to bring his or her contract(s) as well.

How do I live with my friends?
If you have a friend or a group of friends (up to five students total) who you wish to live with, please read the following information carefully:
• As rooms will be available on a first come first serve basis (according to the Room Sign Up Schedule), it is wise to discuss which roommate will be responsible for bringing the signed contracts to the Housing and Residence Life Office.
• The person who is responsible for “pulling in” the other individuals as roommates/suitemates/apartmentmmates, will need to bring the signed contracts to the Housing and Residence Life Office and select the groups room(s).

What is “pulling in”?
Pulling in enables two to five people who want to live with each other to do so.  A current student will be allowed to “pull in” his or her friends by submitting their housing contracts all at the same time to ensure that they live in the same room/unit or floor. To be pulled in, all potential roommates should ensure that they have all preferred roommate/suitemate/apartmentmates listed on their signed housing contract when it is submitted.

Please note that we will only accept completed & signed contracts.  No exceptions.  Once we have received a request to for a “pull in”, the person being “pulled” into the room/suite/apartment will be contacted via their MyUWG email address to confirm their desire to live with the requesting student.  Students will have 24 hours to respond.  Failure to respond in writing will result in the request being voided.  The student will receive another housing assignment from the Department of Housing and Residence Life.

Who may I pull in?
Eligible students may only “pull in” other eligible students who desire to live on campus.

May I live with someone of the opposite sex?
You may not share a room or a suite with someone of the opposite sex. In some facilities, you are permitted to live next door to someone of the opposite sex if rooms are adjacent (on the same hall).  We cannot have member of the opposite sex share a room, suite or apartment.

What happens if my selected roommates and I don’t fill a suite/ apartment?
Students will be able to select into suites/apartments that have spaces left. If your suites/apartment isn’t full, the Department of Housing and Residence Life will assign students to remaining vacancies.

What is the cancellation policy?
Once a student has signed and submitted their 2010-2011 Housing Contract, the student must notify the Department of Housing and Residence Life by May 1, 2010 in writing to be released from their contractual obligation.  If this deadline is not met, the student is responsible for the full contract and its terms. Please note, the Housing Contract is for the FULL Academic Year (August 2010 Opening through May 2011 Closing).

Are you only allowed to sign up at the Campus Center?
