FLAIR Foreign Languages and International Relationships
Do you want to become fluent in another language? Planning on serving internationally? Pursuing a career path with a global reach? Preparing for a study abroad opportunity? If so, the Foreign Languages and International Relationships living-learning community – FLAIR – is for you! Live alongside fluent and native speakers who serve as community guides. Guides offer on-floor tutoring and host weekly French, German and Spanish language immersion nights. FLAIR faculty partners will host movie nights, cultural programs and dinners.
Where is the community located?
The community will live on a specific floor, in one of the University Suites buildings.
Can I live in this LLC with someone who is not participating in the program?
Sorry, but no. All students living in the rooms designated for the FLAIR community must participate in the FLAIR program.
Are there required courses?
Yes. Students in the community must take a French, German, or Spanish course each semester and an XIDS course in the fall semester. The XIDS course: “What do you know about foreign languages, peoples, and cultures?” is a 2-credit hour common community course that fulfills a section of the core curriculum.
To whom is the community open?
The FLAIR community is for all classifications of students and also counts as a first-year experience program for freshmen.
Is there a fee for the community?
Yes, FLAIR participants are required to pay a $20 special interest housing fee each semester to fund specialized community features.
