The University of West Georgia is brimming with activity as current construction projects are being completed and next construction phases are underway.
Center Pointe Suites, a 600 bed facility, will open for the Fall 2012 semester. Center Pointe is located in the heart of the UWG campus and features double and single bedrooms with private baths. Center Pointe will also be home to a c-store and several multipurpose rooms that will host classes and when opened up, will seat the entire RA staff for training and meetings! Center Pointe will also feature inviting outdoor patios for student relaxation and programming.
Then, when the halls close this spring, two traditional-styled halls will be demolished and a third will come offline for extensive renovation. The east side of campus will be redeveloped with a village feel and will include a 460-bed suite building, a new dining complex, and new offices for Housing and Residence Life all set to open for the Fall 2013 semester.
Additionally, the east village project will include renovation of the 290-bed Bowdon Hall, inside and out, to include ADA accessibility, updated community style bathrooms, and complete wireless coverage.Together, these facilities will create a dynamic entry statement as the modern 'front door' to campus; creating a neighborhood feel and increasing satisfaction with on-campus accommodations.
As with the Center Pointe project, special attention will be taken to preserve welcoming green spaces around the new facilities. The east village will be home to an amphitheater, courtyards, and terraces all encouraging social interaction and lifestyle flexibility.
The Housing & Residence Life is excited to watch our UWG campus grow.
HADP Architecture of Atlanta has been selected to serve as architect-of-record for both projects.
