Getting Involved

Getting involved in activities
- as a planner or participant - is one of the easiest and most enjoyable ways to make the most of your limited years at West Georgia. Making friends, belonging to a group, and developing leadership and interpersonal skills are the rewards of involvement. Several great ways of getting involved are listed here. Check them out! Your Resident Assistant can help you in acquiring additional information about your interests.
Floor Activities

Ask your RA about ways you can get involved in planning activities to meet your neighbors and hall staff. RAs want your ideas! Also, watch for coming attractions and announcements of floor meetings and programs on your bulletin boards.

Hall Government

The residence halls at West Georgia offer you three ways to get involved in residence hall governance. The first is your House Government. Each residence hall floor becomes a HOUSE. The students living in each House choose a theme for their House (i.e. King House after Martin Luther King, Letterman House after David Letterman, The Penthouse) and elect house officers . This group of officers, along with the Resident Assistant on the floor, plans activities and brings the floor’s concerns and ideas to the second governing level - HALL COUNCIL. The Hall Council represents the entire residence hall. It’s primary purpose is to provide activities, suggest improvements and encourage students in the hall to get involved. The third level of governance is the President's Council. The President's Council is made up of the Hall Council Presidents from each hall. This group acts in an advisory capacity for residence life and plans activities campuswide. Residence hall government is a great way to get involved on campus! It offers residents an opportunity to help plan activities and to have a voice in West Georgia’s on campus governing structure. Most importantly, it’s fun! See your RD/RLC or RA for more information when you move in.
