What is ResView, Channel 20?
ResView is a program brought to you by the University of West Georgia's Department of Residence Life in partnership with Residence Life Cinema and Charter Communications. Through residence hall social fees paid by students living on campus each semester, Residence Life purchases movies that Residence Life Cinema has obtained exclusive rights to and airs them on Channel 20 in a rotation.

How often are the movies shown?
Every month, a set of 17 movies is received from Residence Life Cinema and is scheduled in a rotation of 9 movies per day in a staggered form. To understand this better, check out the monthly schedule in a printable PDF form on the Schedules page.

How are the movies selected?
Movies are selected by the membership of various committees and narrowed down by the ResView Committee. These movies are selected from a monthly list made available by Residence Life Cinema. Not all movies ever made will be available, as it all depends what the stipulations of the contracts entered into between the production companies and Residence Life Cinema.

Can I get ResView off campus?
Sorry, ResView is only available through the cable lines on campus. If you tried Channel 20 off campus in the Carrollton area, you would get The QVC Channel (which is available through Channel 4 on campus).

Do the movies play continuously?
It all depends on the timing of the movies. Normally 2 1/2 hours separate each start time, with the exception of the time between the 2:30am and 6:30am movies. However, some movies can run longer than the allotted time and can cause adjustments to be made in the schedule. For the most accurate times, please refer to the Daily Schedule page.

What happens with the "dead time" between movies? Do y'all play commercials?
Not technically. We run a PowerPoint slide show with important announcements from Residence Life regarding such things as closing procedures and room changes, as well as running advertisements about events happening all around campus.

Can my student organization submit an advertisement to put on ResView?
Sure! However, you must follow a few guidelines first before your slide can be posted:

(1) The slides need to remain in the landscape format.
(2) Slides with fonts smaller than 18 point are incredibly difficult to
read, it is a good rule of thumb to make the fonts at least 18 point.
(3) Please refrain from using bright color backgrounds with bright
color lettering.  Computer screens have a much higher resolution than
your average television, so please take that into account.
(4) Please submit all slides to resview@westga.edu.  Once submitted your
slide should be posted within 24 hours.
(5) The Residence Life Office reserves the right to post and remove any
slide submitted, at our discretion.
