Housing Contract Submission INSTRUCTIONS
Being a college student is all about choices.
Possibly for the first time in your life, you will have more choices about what classes to take, what to major in, where to live, when and how much to study, when to go out and even how much money to spend. The key to success in college and in life is to make good choices.
One of the first choices you will have to make will be to decide which residence hall is best for you. Think about the kind of community in which you want to live. Undergraduate Housing cannot make recommendations to you about where you should live. Instead, we recommend that incoming freshman ask themselves the following questions before filling out the housing application, and then read over the housing descriptions in the brochure and online to decide where to apply. In order to narrow down your building choices to just three, you should ask yourself: Do I want to live in co-ed or single gendered housing? What would be the best environment for you – a large (300+ neighbors) building, or a smaller community with less than 200 neighbors? As a freshman, your classes will be held all over campus, however, we encourage our freshmen to ask themselves, what kind of amenities do you want to live near? Would I prefer to live closer to the academic quad, Bowdon, Boykin, Downs, Gunn are within a 3-minute walk. Or would you prefer to live closer to the dining hall in our apartment community, Arbor View. Centrally located and close to class and the dining options are the University Suites, with Strozier and Watson as their immediate neighbors. Would you prefer to live in a building where all of your neighbors are freshmen, or do I want to live in a building with a mix of freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors? Bowdon, Downs, Gunn, Watson and Strozier are 'all freshman' traditional style buildings - all of the residents except for Resident Assistants (RA) are freshmen. The other traditional style option, Boykin, will offer a community with a mixed population. .
If you are interested in a traditional first year experience, Bowdon, Boykin, Downs and Watson Halls are the buildings that are available. Watson Hall will be an all female building where as Bowdon, Boykin and Downs would offer a co-ed experience.
Strozier Hall is another traditional hall that is available to Freshman.
One of the three buildings at Arbor View Apartments, Building B will be available to freshman. These are apartment style rooms and if you are interested in living here please indicate by clicking on the appropriate boxes on your housing contract.
If you are an Advanced Academy student you will automatically be assigned to Gunn Hall. However, you must complete the Advanced Academy housing contract.
