3.13 Responsibility for compliance with other Commission policies

Comprehensive Standard:

3.13.1 The institution complies with the policies of the Commission on Colleges. (Policy compliance)

Applicable Policy Statement: Any institution seeking or holding accreditation from more than one U.S. Department of Education recognized accrediting body must describe itself in identical terms to each recognized accrediting body with regard to purpose, governance, programs, degrees, diplomas, certificates, personnel, finances, and constituencies, and must keep each institutional accrediting body apprised of any change in its status with one or another accrediting body.  (Accrediting decisions of other agencies)

Narrative:

The single institution-wide accreditation held by the University of West Georgia is that granted by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) [1]; however, particular programs, colleges, and units are encouraged to seek discipline-specific accreditation as appropriate.  At present, such accreditation has been granted by the following 11 accrediting bodies [2], [3]:

Each of the 11 accrediting agencies granted accreditation to the respective program in the most recent visit.  The table below presents the dates of the last and next visit for each of these and indicates that no negative action was taken by any accrediting agency.  The accreditation notification letters for each agency and self-reports are also available.
