3.14 Representation of status with the Commission

Comprehensive Standard:

3.14.1 A member or candidate institution represents its accredited status accurately and publishes the name, address, and telephone number of the Commission in accordance with Commission requirements and federal policy. (Publication of accreditation status)

Statement of Compliance:   In Compliance.

Narrative:

The University of West Georgia publishes on its website the name of its primary accreditor, Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), and its address and phone number in accordance with the SACS requirements. The institution also notes that the purpose for publishing the Commission’s address and contact information is to enable interested constituents to learn about the accreditation status of the institution, to file third-party comment at the time of the institution’s decennial review, or to file a complaint against the institution for alleged non-compliance with a standard or requirement. This public disclosure also indicates that normal inquires about the institution should be addressed directly to the institution and not to the Commission’s office.
