3.2 Governance and Administration

Comprehensive Standard:

3.2.1 The governing board of the institution is responsible for the selection and periodic evaluation of the chief executive officer. (CEO evaluation/selection)

Statement of Compliance:   In Compliance.

Narrative:

Board of Regents Policy Section 2.1 stipulates that the president of each institution is to be formally selected by the Board of Regents in consultation with, and upon the recommendations of the Chancellor of the Board of Regents and any relevant Search Committees [1]. Board of Regents Policy Section 2.2 describes the "Procedure for Selection of a President for University System Institutions," [2] and Board of Regents Policy Section 2.2.3 specifically outlines this process for State Universities like the University of Georgia [2]. Board of Regents Policy Section 2.3 discusses "Performance Assessment of Presidents" [3].

The current President of the University of West Georgia, Dr. Kyle Marrero [4], [5], started in this position on July 1, 2013 [6]. Therefore, he has not been evaluated yet.

The previous President, Dr. Beheruz N. Sethna, was appointed by the Board of Regents in 1994, and he has been reappointed each year since [7], [8], [9].
