4. Federal Requirements

Federal Requirement:

4.3 The institution makes available to students and the public current academic calendars, grading policies, and refund policies. (Publication of policies)

Narrative:

In accordance with SACS Policy on "Developing Policy and Procedures Documents" [1], the University of West Georgia publishes/posts all policies on its website in order to ensure accessibility to those affected by them. Therefore, UWG makes available to students and the public current academic calendars, grading policies, and refund policies and, thus, is in compliance with Federal Requirement 4.3 (the report for Comprehensive Standard 3.4.5 provides details on UWG academic policies). 

Particular policies and information are conveyed in multiple forms.  These include:

Academic Calendar:

Academic Calendar - provides detailed information about all academic events, sports, and featured events. An advanced search option is also available, which makes it even easier to find the event of interest by approximate day, category, location, and keywords [2].  

Undergraduate Catalog (University Calendar section) - provides information about major university/academic deadlines and important dates for each semester in the academic year [3].

Graduate Catalog - (Graduate Studies Calendar section) provides information about major university/academic deadlines and important dates for each semester in the academic year [4].

The Scoop (the Student Guide posted every semester) - the "Calendars" section provides information about major university/academic deadlines and important dates for the semester [5].

Additionally, in accordance with the SACS policy on "Distance and Correspondence Education" [13], UWG students in distance programs or courses have access to the same information and services as face-to-face students through the University website [14].
