Dr. Holland received her Ph.D. in Sociology in 2000 with concentrations in environmental sociology and political economy. Other areas of teaching and research interest include sociological theory, collective behavior and social movements, and the sociology of religion. She has published in Free Inquiry in Creative Sociology, Sociological Focus, Humanity & Society, and Sociological Spectrum. Currently, Dr. Holland is working on a textbook titled: Social Movements in America: Theory and Practice, which is scheduled to be published by SAGE and Pine Forge Press in the Fall of 2009. She has presented her research at the American Sociological Association, the Society for the Study of Social Problems, the Southern Sociological Society, the Mid-South Sociological Association, and the Georgia Sociological Association. She was the 2008 President of the Georgia Sociological Association.
