Dr. Todd Matthews is an Assistant Professor in the
Department of Sociology and Criminology. He received his
Ph.D. in Sociology from Mississippi State University in
2008. He regularly teaches courses which include:
Data Management, Environmental Sociology, Introductory
Sociology, Poverty, Research Methodology and Senior Seminar.
Dr. Matthews's research focuses on environmental issues, civic
participation, religion and social inequality. Recent articles have
appeared in Social Forces, Journal for the Scientific
Study of Religion, Sociological Focus and the Review of Religious
Research. In addition, he has also published several chapters in edited
volumes.
Outside of work, he participates in local environmental organizations,
enjoys reading, playing golf, and spending time with his wife Andie
and their cats Callaghan and Hamilton.
