• Dr. Jason Huett, Associate Dean of Online Development, was awarded the Outstanding eLearning Faculty Distinguished Educator award by the Instructional Technology Council. Winners of this award received complimentary registration to the ITC’s 2013 eLearning conference and were invited to attend a special recognition luncheon on Tuesday, Feb. 19, at the Hyatt Regency in San Antonio, Texas.
“It’s quite an honor,” said Huett. “Everything that I have accomplished while at UWG has, at least in part, been a team effort, and I am continually in awe of the people I work with. I consider myself lucky to have landed at UWG. If I am able to do anything that enhances the school’s reputation, it is largely because UWG took the time to invest in me. Awards like this are just further evidence that UWG is a major player in distance education in Georgia and beyond.”

• The Department of Anthropology hosts the 2013 Waring Distinguished Lecturer tonight at 7 pm. Dr. Ted Goebel, Associate Director of the Center for the Study of the First Americans at Texas A&M University, will give a talk on "Ice Age Peopling of the Americas: Do Stones, Bones, and Genes Tell the Same Story?" Dr. Goebel’s talk explores the questions of who the first Americans were and how they came to the New World during the Ice Age. Toward answering these questions, Dr. Goebel examines three lines of evidence: archaeological, physical, and genetic records. The lecture will be held in Kathy Cashen Hall. Admission is free and is open to the campus and community.
