Hatchett Holds Court at UWG

The Sophomore Experience, a collaborative effort by UWG academic departments, will host A Day of Civic Engagement volunteer fair on Wednesday, April 7, at 2 p.m. in the Campus Center. A keynote address by television personality and local juvenile Judge Glenda A. A keynote address by television personality and local juvenile Judge Glenda A. Hatchett will follow at 7 p.m.

Hatchett, an Emory University law school graduate, stars in the two-time Emmy- nominated syndicated show “Judge Hatchett.” The cornerstone of the show is the innovative sentencing approach Hatchett developed during her years as head of one of the  largest juvenile court systems in the nation. Her fresh perspective and warm yet authoritative leadership has won critical praise on the show and in real life.

The judge hopes to send a message of encouragement to sophomores and the community and will talk about the importance of getting involved and volunteering. Hatchett will present “ A New Generation of Dreamers” lecture that will share her many years of experience working with local youth. She was appointed Chief Presiding Judge of the Fulton County Juvenile Court in 1990.
