Spring Preview Day Spotlights Campus

Celebrate spring with the University of West Georgia Concert Choir and the Carroll Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Director of Choirs Dr. Kevin Hibbard. The performance is scheduled on Tuesday, April 20, at 8:15 p.m. in the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts, and the community is invited to attend.

The performance will feature the student winners of the Concerto Competition held earlier this spring, as well as the Concert Choir and Carroll Symphony Orchestra performing the “Lord Nelson Mass” by Joseph Haydn.

Student soloist for the Concerto portion of the program is Robbie Vizurraga, sophomore Composition and Piano Performance major from Villa Rica. He will perform the first movement of Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23 in A major, K. 488.

Brian Skinner, junior Music Education major from Acworth, will perform the first movement of Cimarosa’s Concerto for Oboe in C major. Michael Turner, sophomore Music Education and Saxophone Performance major from Douglasville, will perform the first movement from Milhaud’s “Scaramouche.”

Professional soloists for the “Lord Nelson Mass” will include Dr. Dani Jones, soprano, Katherine Murray, mezzo-soprano, Drew Bowers, tenor, and Larry Frazier, bass. Jones and Frazier are members of the West Georgia voice faculty.

Admission is $10 for adults, $7 for senior citizens, $5 for students, $3 for children 12 and under, and free for UWG Students with ID. Reservation of tickets is recommended. Call the Townsend Center Box Office at 678-839-4722 for information or reservations.
