Fine dining and beautiful music will come together as a perfect way to begin the holiday season when the UWG Opera Workshop and the Sunset Hills Country Club present the sixth annual “A Taste of Opera” on Tuesday, November 10.
An elegant dinner will begin at 7 p.m., followed by concert performances of student performers under the direction of Dr. Larry Frazier, professor of music. The community is invited to attend and enjoy a tradition of delicious food, fellowship and wonderful voices.
Musical numbers include “It’s a Grand Night for Singing” from the popular Rodgers and Hammerstein Broadway musical “State Fair,” a tongue-in-cheek madrigal from “The Mikado,” one of the most popular operettas by Gilbert and Sullivan, and “Masquerade” from “The Phantom of the Opera.”
The academic mission of the UWG Opera Workshop is to present performances of outstanding lyrical theatre works of opera, operetta and musicals.
