The Carrollton School Board Candidate Forum, scheduled Monday, Oct. 19, will feature three UWG faculty as moderator and panel members. The Forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters for community residents and will begin at 7 p.m. at the Commission Chambers on College Street.
Dr. Bruce Lyon, a UWG Ombudsman and a retired faculty member, will moderate the forum of eight candidates running for the Carrollton City Schools Board of Education. Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 3.
Dr. Mary Hooper and Dr. Andrew Nixon, both professors in the Department of Educational Leadership and Professional Studies, will participate on the panel and present each candidate several questions on educational issues.
The Forum is sponsored by the League of Women Voters Carrollton/Carroll County and will give city residents an opportunity to listen to candidates and make an educated electoral decision on November 3.
Candidates on the ballot are: Ward 1: Gregory Dothard (incumbent) /Earl Phillips; Ward 2: Joe McGinnis (incumbent) /Bruce Brewer, Ph.D.; Ward 3: Kelly Glanton (incumbent) /Jason Mount, M.D.; and at large: Lynn Kress (incumbent) /Lee Cole/David Godwin.
The Forum will be held in the Commission Chambers at 423 College Street and the community is invited to attend.
