With two weeks remaining before the opening of University Stadium, UWG Athletics officials said season ticket sales for the Wolves’ 2009 season are going strong and that there are good seats still available.
The home opener scheduled September 5 will mark the inaugural game at the 9,000-seat stadium, which is the anchor for a multi-sport athletics complex.
“We are very encouraged by the response to this year’s ticket campaign,” said UWG Associate Athletic Director Eddie Duffey. “But there is still time to purchase a limited number of excellent seats for the entire season of Wolves football.”
Duffey has led the UWG Department of Athletics on a busy summer schedule of activities to help fuel both ticket sales and community interest in the Wolves and the new stadium. Events like the Wolves Caravan and Season Ticket Blitz have both been successful in raising awareness for the program and in the long-awaited opening of an on-campus venue for UWG football.
The efforts have been successful. West Georgia’s first ever season ticket campaign has filled the chair back sections of the stadium’s West Stands.
For Wolves fans that there are no bad seats in the new stadium. With no running track surrounding the field, fans will literally be on top of the action, no matter where they sit.
Fans wishing to purchase season tickets are invited to call the UWG Department of Athletics at 678-839-6533.
