The University of West Georgia and the Department of Art is hosting the First Biennial Art Alumni Exhibition through Thursday, September 10, in the Bruce Bobick Gallery and Gallery 2 in the Humanities Building. The event is free and the community is invited to attend.
The exhibition features the work of 30 alumni of the art department enrolled from the 1970s to this decade and includes a diverse selection of artwork from painting, ceramics, drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking and mixed media.
Stephanie Smith, gallery coordinator and instructor at UWG, said the exhibit is engaging and representative of the exciting talent of former students.
“This is such a representation of the immense talent and skill produced by the UWG art department alumni,” said Smith. “This exhibition demonstrates the strong commitment and creativity of graduates spanning four decades.”
The exhibition and reception is an opportunity for former students and faculty to reconnect and share what has happened in their lives since graduation.
Cathy Hannah Amos ‘78 and '83, earned a master’s in art education and recently retired as an art teacher. She is a docent at the Emory University’s Michael C. Carlos Museum in Atlanta.
“This show is a great idea and I’m so glad to be in touch with the art department,” said Amos. “I am looking forward to hearing more from UWG art.”
The Bobick Gallery is open Monday – Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information call 678-839-6521.
