The dream of Greek housing on campus has become a reality this month and to celebrate the newest addition to the UWG campus, the community gathered for an open house on Saturday, August 22.
Visitors were able to tour the Greek Village Resident Manager's apartment and two hotel-style suites, which will be used as guest suites for Chapter Leadership consultants and other special guests of the university.
The expansive village features a community building, an outdoor basketball and volleyball court, green space, parking and 18 houses in various sizes.
Each house has a living/chapter room, kitchen, laundry facilities, a mix of single and double bedrooms, and semi-private bathrooms. Altogether there will be housing for 262 students.
“As part of the university’s strategic plan, we committed to improving the quality of the university experience for students,” Dr. Melanie McClellan, vice president for Student Services, explained. “The opening of Greek Village, along with The Coliseum and the stadium, will make 2009-2010 an immensely exciting year for the university as we continue to be more of a destination institution.”
