Students will ride in style this fall semester when they board new shuttle buses at the University of West Georgia.
The on- and off-campus transit system is a service UWG offers students to relieve traffic and provide a quick way to get to get to class and leave their vehicles behind.
Bright colorful logos, designed by recent UWG graduate Sarah Ku, adorn the shuttles. Along with the new buses, new “Red and Blue” bus route maps and signs have been designed to provide an improved and efficient system.
Seating is available for 32 passengers with a standing room that can reach a capacity of 60. The buses are equipped with a fold out ramp and a kneeling feature that will lower the bus to an 8-inch curb height for ease in boarding passengers with mobility impairments.
Red and Blue transit routes, planned for the time of day and number of passengers and covering stops along the perimeter, will no longer operate in parking lots and in the circles at residence halls.
Service will begin at 7:30 a.m. and end at 10 p.m. from Monday through Thursday with Friday hours ending at 3 p.m.
