A new era is underway for intercollegiate athletics at the University of West Georgia. With six UWG teams moving into new home venues this year, a new enthusiasm is taking over the entire athletic program.
The Department of Athletics announced the establishment of the West Georgia Athletic Fund designed to be a catalyst in providing funds for the university’s 11-sport intercollegiate athletic program.
West Georgia Interim Athletic Director Daryl Dickey is bullish on the move.
“We’re very excited about the future,” says Dickey. “Establishing the West Georgia Athletic Fund will be a big asset for us, and is an essential step for us to move our program to where we want it to be in the coming years.”
The athletic fund is designed to serve as a complement to the existing West Georgia Athletic Booster Club. Contributions to the WGAF will qualify donors for a schedule of benefits relative to their level of contribution. These benefits include the option to prime seats for home football games in the University Stadium and basketball games in The Coliseum, parking consideration and message board recognition.
WGAF donors will also quality as members of the West Georgia Athletic Booster Club.
