Music Dept. Presents Guest Artist Megumi Masaki

Pianist Megumi Masaki will perform as a guest artist on Monday, September 20 in Kathy Cashen Recital Hall at 8:15 p.m. The concert entitled Music 4 Eyes and Ears will be sponsored by the University of West Georgia’s Department of Music. 

Pianist Megumi Masaki will perform as a guest artist on Monday, September 20 in Kathy Cashen Recital Hall at 8:15 p.m. The concert entitled Music 4 Eyes and Ears will be sponsored by the University of West Georgia’s Department of Music. The recital features a presentation of piano music accompanied by multi-media including audio-visuals from “middle period” Alfred Hitchcock films. The performance will include Reflections in the Water (2000) for Piano, with Visual Tracks by Vincent Ho, visual tracks by Owen Bird, Chroma Concerto (2007) for Piano & Animation Film by Michael Oesterle, animation film by Chris Hinton, The Hitchcock Études for Solo Piano & Glitch (2010 U. S.  Premiere) by Nicole Lizée, and Piano con Moto for Piano and Video: real-time sound and visual manipulation by Kotoka Suzuki.

Masaki has established herself as an international artist renowned for her warmth and rapport with audiences and her superb musicianship.  Her critically acclaimed performances, both in recital and as soloist with orchestra, have taken her across Canada, the USA, England, Ireland, Germany, Cyprus, Japan, China, Taiwan and the Philippines. Masaki is currently Associate Professor of Piano at Brandon University in Canada.
