Move over “STOMP” and “Blue Man Group,” there’s a better show in town. The University of West Georgia’s Sixth Annual Night of Percussion is back at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts on Wednesday, April 29, beginning at 8:15 p.m.
The event is free and the community is invited to an evening with an unforgettable variety of music, jazz and visual excitement. Seating is limited and early arrival or advanced reservations are recommended.
Two of UWG’s percussion ensembles and three area high schools are featured on the program. Bowden, Mount Zion and Grayson High Schools will bring their ensembles for the evening showcase concert. Next, the UWG Concert Percussion Ensemble will perform works by Lynn Glassock, Vic Firth and Stephen Reich.
The concert performances will feature everything from classics to modern, solo to large ensemble pieces and every level in between.
The Night of Percussion will go out with a rhythmic beat as the award winning UWG Jazz Percussion Group shows off its talents.
The Townsend Center Box Office hours are Monday-Friday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, call 678-839-4722.
