Psychobiologist to Speak on Addiction

The Office of Minority Affairs will host Dr. Edward Castaneda, a psychologist, on Thursday, April 16, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in the Richards College of Business lecture hall.

The Office of Minority Affairs will host Dr. Edward Castaneda, a psychologist, on Thursday, April 16, from 7 - 8:30 p.m. in the Richards College of Business lecture hall.A reception is scheduled before the lecture in the Hubbard Dining Room at the Food Services Building (Z-6) from 5 to 6 p.m. Both events are free and the community is invited to attend.

Castaneda, a psychobiologist and also chair of the Department of Psychology at the University of Texas at El Paso, will talk about "Personal and Professional Triumphs of Addiction: A Journey from Culture into the Laboratory."

Psychobiology is the branch of biology that studies the interactions of body and mind, especially as exhibited in the nervous system. Castaneda is also a member of the advisory committee for the American Psychological Association and has had much of his research published.
