Cultures Shine at International Night

Everyone is invited to travel without a passport to more than 40 countries at the University of West Georgia International Night on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Food Services Building (Z-6).

Everyone is invited to travel without a passport to more than 40 countries at the University of West Georgia International Night on Thursday, Feb. 5, at 7 p.m. in the Food Services Building (Z-6).Hosted by the International Student Club, the evening will feature samplings of international cuisine, exhibits, dancing, singing and a fashion show that will display clothing from around the world. Last year tickets sold out, and advanced purchase of tickets is recommended.

The celebration of global dances range from a Laos-Thailand dance to Turkish-Hip Hop and salsa. There are approximately 140 international students enrolled at UWG from many diverse countries including Scotland, Nigeria, Japan and India.

Sylvia Shortt, assistant director of International Services and Programs, said the evening will be an experience that you will never forget.

“Come experience a trip around the world,” said Shortt. “Expand your cultural knowledge of other countries by coming to eat exotic foods and watch dancing and singing.”

Tickets may be purchased at the International Services office in Row Hall, Room 223, or from an International Club student on campus. Admission is $5 for UWG students with ID, $7 for children under 12 and $8 for the community, including faculty and staff. For more information, call 678-839-4780.
