Get ready for a little autumn percussion and jazz as the Jazz Percussion Group, the Percussion Ensemble and UWG marimba soloists play their best at the Townsend Center for the Performing Arts.
Hosted by the Department of Music, the performers will raise the curtain on Wednesday, Nov. 19, at 8:15 p.m. The event is free and the community is invited to attend.
Under the direction of Dr. Doug Overmier, associate professor and director of bands, selections for the evening will include classics and improvisation. “Portico” by Thomas Guager and “Tocatta” by Carlos Chavez will be performed as well as “Bulbous Bouffont” and an improvisatory work entitled “Interactive.”
The JPG will also introduce several new works in preparation for their upcoming performance at the California Music Educators Association meeting in March.
Come support our students and music department while enjoying a wonderfully entertaining event. For more information, call 678-839-6516.
